THE INSTITUTIONALIST MAINTAIN THEIR POWER GRIP OVER THE BOARD AND THE COMMUNITY!

FOR ALL THE RECENT TALK ABOUT RACISM AGAINST THE CURRENT BOARD CHAIR, HOW IS IT THAT AN OVER-QUALIFIED AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN SUDDENLY HAS THE ELECTION STOLEN FROM HER AND GIVEN TO A WHITE MAN?

APPARENTLY, MBP GALE BREWER THINKS THIS STINKS WHICH WAS REVEALED AT THE APRIL FULL BOARD AT THE 22:13 MARK.

OH YEAH, WE THINK IT IS REALLY WEIRD TOO THAT THE ONLY MIC THAT STOPPED WORKING AT THE FULL BOARD WHEN QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ELECTION PROCESS CAME UP WAS THAT OF SANDRA STROTHER, WHO GOT THE ELECTION STOLEN FROM HER...

Community Board 3 is broken. It has become an undemocratic,

unaccountable, and non-transparent municipal body under the unelected District Manager Susan Stetzer.

THE PROBLEM

For nearly 2 decades, CB3 's district office has concentrated power by grooming leadership and recycling pliant board and committee chairs, and meddling in board elections and public meetings.

CB3 Representation Now.png

Punitive measures are taken against the public or board members who dissent or question information or tactics by the district manager or from members of the entrenched leadership.

COMMUNITY BOARD 3's
ENTRENCHED POWER
HAS BLOCKED PROGRESS
IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

The concentration of power at CB3 has effectively silenced citizens, stifled public participation, prevented a diversity of views, and stopped real progress and representation from happening.

It takes  an uncompromised and courageous community board member to call a board vote to remove the district manager and a majority of the appointed members to vote yes.

THE SOLUTION

Stop Stacking the Deck, CB3 Won't Change Until Membership Changes

The power to change things on Community Board 3 runs through the office of the

borough president and the District 1 and District 2 city council reps.

The borough president chooses half of the 50 members based on nominations by the district’s city council reps, and half by personally recruiting and selecting members.

The borough president and city council reps must stop reappointing the same members who continue to uphold the existing undemocratic and unbalanced structure at

Community Board 3.

The local community boards must be reformed and remade into activist governing boards who work to develop policy and draft resolutions that reflect the specific needs and will of the community not push blatantly partisan political agendas, pursue personal agendas, or give special interest "community" cover.

 About Us

CLEAN UP CB3 IS A VOLUNTEER ARMY OF CONCERNED CITIZENS

We advocate for a transparent, representative, and accountable Community Board 3.

We demand that CB3 be responsible, responsive, and above board to the community that it is tasked to represent.

Our strategy is to bring awareness and use graphic agitation to put the district office's misconduct on notice and dismantle the inequities in our representation at CB3.

We support the CB3 board members and community groups who work to increase public trust in CB3.

We share many of their goals, especially ending crony CB3 politics and fighting for public integrity measures in the CB3 process and governance.
